The Gerrittsen Beach Volunteer Fire Department is an all-volunteer, community-supported fire service, located in the heart of Gerrittsen Beach, Brooklyn. With a history spanning decades, our mission is to offer top-tier fire protection and emergency medical services to our community. We are fully recognized by the City of New York, the State of New York, and the FDNY as an operational volunteer fire department. Our dedicated members ensure continuous service, working in conjunction with other emergency services via the NYC 9-1-1 system.

We receive no annual stipend from the City, State or Federal Governments. As such, we rely solely on private donations, grants, fundraising events, and crucial contributions from the community we serve. We are reaching out for your invaluable support to help us maintain essential life-saving equipment, adhere to regulatory standards, and provide ongoing training for our members. All our personnel are Certified Firefighters, or EMTs. Continuous drills and training are integral to our operations, ensuring our team is prepared and effective for any emergency situation.

From blackouts and storms to major events like Superstorm Sandy and the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are ever ready to serve.
